The inspiration for my autism-focused golf program grew out of my volunteer work as a golf mentor at the First Tee. While coaching, I met several young players on the autism spectrum and quickly realized that a different teaching approach could better support their learning. When I searched for programs designed specifically for youth with autism, I was surprised by how few existed. So in 2023, after becoming certified as an Official Program Provider of the Ernie Els #GameON Autism Golf Program, I launched Northern California’s first golf initiative tailored to neurodiverse children.
I decided to host workshops at a miniature golf course rather than a full-scale facility. The playful, visually engaging layout offers a more predictable and manageable environment—making it ideal for developing motor skills, encouraging social interaction, and building confidence without pressure.
To bring the program to life, I partnered with a local mini golf business that opened its doors to host our workshops. The response was incredibly positive, and the sessions quickly demonstrated how accessible and inclusive golf can truly be.
I also invited other high school golfers to join the effort and get certified as ASD-friendly coaches. Together, we’ve built an outreach campaign through social media and word-of-mouth, reaching over 200 individuals and providing free golf sessions to 27 families so far. Our shared goal is to help children discover the joy and lifelong benefits of learning a sport in a way that works for them.
Today, the Follow Through Golf program offers both in-person workshops and one-on-one instruction. To support learning at home, I also created a series of instructional videos—giving parents and students the chance to understand our teaching methods and mission in a familiar, comfortable setting.
I developed a series of instructional videos, allowing interested individuals to understand the learning method at their own pace.

September 2024 – We hosted an outreach event at the local miniature golf course.
September 2024 – We spoke with more than 35 families about the importance of sport to youths with autism.

I created this space to stay engaged with adolescent health topics that matter to me—and to help others stay informed too. Many of these issues, like substance use, neurodevelopmental disorders, and infectious diseases, are ones I’ve encountered through my research, advocacy, and volunteer work.
My goal is to empower others with the reminder that healthier living is within reach. When we come together, support one another, and stay informed, we can shape a better, healthier future for the next generation.

Over the past 3 years in high school, I’ve been lucky to work with some amazing organizations such as the Stanford Asian Liver Center, Halpern-Felsher REACH lab, and Ernie Els Autism Golf. I was given the chances to explore different areas of public health.
I wrote this book to show how young people can make a real difference in their communities when it comes to public health. Sometimes, it just takes curiosity, care, and a willingness to act.
